Why Waggle Barn

Plenty of kennels rent out a room. We offer a predictable daily rhythm, looked after by carers your dog comes to know. The rooms are nice, but routine is what matters.

Groups of four

Dogs are grouped by energy and play style rather than size, and a carer is always on the floor with them.

The same two carers

The same faces all week, no rota. By night two, nobody is pacing at 3am.

Ninety minutes out

Twice a day, off the property, on real paths. No decor ever replaces the walk.

One honest message

Each evening at six you hear how the day went: meals, distance covered, highlights and hiccups.

The house

We occupy the ground floor of a converted print works on Mill Lane. There are twelve rooms, each with natural light and its own door, opening onto a walled garden that stays shady in summer. No kennel runs, no bare concrete, no echoing corridor of barks.

Each room opens straight onto the garden level, so sociable dogs get company and the ones who need twenty minutes alone can take them, no questions asked.

Someone is always home. At night two carers stay up, checking every room at midnight and again at three, with a soft light left on in the hall.

Meet the carers

June takes the days.
Devon takes the nights.

Together they are there for every hour of every stay. You will know both names well before the first night.

How a stay begins

Four steps, and none of them are rushed

From first message to first night usually takes around two weeks. Nobody gets handed over at the door while the car idles.

FIRST

Tell us about your dog

Age, breed, worries, food. A short form, never an interview.

THEN

Come for a free trial afternoon

Two hours with us while you go elsewhere. No commitment on either side.

AFTER THAT

Meet their two carers

You meet the carers who will really look after your dog, not a receptionist.

FINALLY

Confirm the stay

Dates, medication, feeding. We send everything back in writing so nothing gets misremembered.

Guest stories

What their owners noticed

All three came in without prompting, a few days after pick-up, from owners we had not yet asked.

Maple the spaniel standing in long grass

Maple Spaniel 6 nights

She usually refuses food anywhere new. By the second evening the bowl was empty and she was asleep before six.
Anna K. · Maple’s owner
Bruno the labrador puppy carrying a toy

Bruno Labrador 12 days

The evening messages were specific and honest, never staged. We never had to guess how his day went.
Tom H. · Bruno’s owner
Miso the shiba inu being petted

Miso Shiba Inu Daycare

She now comes home from daycare comfortably tired rather than frazzled.

Safety and care

The parts you cannot see from the photos

Each of these is part of how the house runs every day, never an optional extra.

  • Medication given as instructed

Every dose is recorded and confirmed in your evening update.

  • Local veterinary partner on call

A partner vet practice four minutes away keeps a file on every guest.

  • Groups matched by temperament

Groups form around energy and play style, not size, and some dogs prefer to stay solo.

Before the first night

Up-to-date vaccinations and a trial afternoon are needed before any first overnight.

Questions, answered

The six we get every week

Not seeing your question? Send us a note and a real person will reply.

Pack their usual food in per-meal portions and one item that smells like home. We supply beds, bowls and blankets. If they have a favourite harness or lead, bring it so walks feel familiar.

Yes — tablets, liquids and anything else we are trained for, logged dose by dose and confirmed in your evening message. Bring the prescription and we go through it together at the trial afternoon.

From sixteen weeks, once vaccinations are complete. Puppies sleep in the quietest room, get four short outings instead of two long walks, and spend most of the afternoon asleep.

We call you, honestly and early — usually by the second evening. If the trial afternoon suggests we are not the right place, we say so before any booking, and the stay never starts.

Yes. Around a third of our guests never join one. They get the same walks, the same room and the same carers, just one to one.

Two to three weeks for most of the year, six for school holidays. Trial afternoons run every weekday, so enquiring early only ever helps.
